Operation School Bell®, a program of Assistance League® of Las Vegas, provides brand new clothing and other essentials, free of charge, to children from families with extreme need and has been providing this service to Clark County for over 30 years.

In Las Vegas, thousands of children, either homeless or disadvantaged, may not attend school simply because they do not have adequate clothing. As we face more difficult economic times, the number of children in need has grown significantly.

The children who come to Operation School Bell, from kindergarten through 8th grade, are from all ethnic groups and are referred by the Clark County School District's Title I and HOPE Homeless program. Each child is transported to our facility by school attendance officers where the child is personally assisted by a volunteer to receive two new outfits, shoes, coat, undergarments, backpack, school supplies, age appropriate book, and health kit.

In the 2008-09 school year, we have seen more children come through the doors of Operation School Bell in desperate need of new clothing. We felt compelled to meet the needs of as many children as we could serve. As a result, in 2008-09, we provided clothing and other essentials to 6,858 school children, a 19% increase over the previous year.

Assistance League, a 501(c)(3) non profit, is a 100% volunteer run organization with no paid staff. Funding to support their programs come from individual, corporate or foundation support.
