The Mission of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is to work side by side with the medical community to provide social, emotional, educational, financial and psychological support services and programs to families of ALL children diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, hemophilia, renal disorders and other immunologic diseases. With over 20 programs and services, our brightest star is Camp Cartwheel, an annual program, which will celebrate its 12th year in the summer of 2009.

Camp Cartwheel is a medically supervised, cost free overnight camp experience for children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses along with their siblings. We want to provide them with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun camp activities, develop new skills and form positive relationships and self esteem. Camp Cartwheel hosts over 130 children along with 200 volunteers for many activities such as Canoeing, Arts and Crafts, Fencing, Hip Hop Dance, Karate, Scuba Diving, Swimming, Archery, Rock Climbing with a special harness for those in wheel chairs. We want to remind them that they are "kids" and let them cut loose in a way they can't under their normal circumstances. The long term goal is to create an experience for them that will help them want to give back in later years and become counselors themselves. This past year over 20% of our volunteers were campers at one time at Camp Cartwheel.

Camp Cartwheel continues to be an amazing week of miracles!
