The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities will hold its fifth annual "Cards for Kids" Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Cannery Hotel & Casino, kicking off the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Tournament players will have the unique opportunity to face-off against their favorite NHRA drivers in the charity event. This is the fourth year NHRA stars have come out to The Cannery to take part in the event, which has raised more than $40,000 since its inception.

NHRA drivers Brandon Bernstein, Greg Anderson, Morgan Lucas, J.R. Todd, Dave Connolly, Allen Johnson and Justin Humphreys will return to the felt to test their poker skills. Cash and a variety of prizes will be available for the top nine finishers.

Buy-in for the event is $250 and includes $1,000 in tournament chips and complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres throughout the night. If Lady Luck fails to shine on the players during the first hour of tournament play, re-buys will be offered for $100, with 50% of the total re-buy money being added to the total prize purse.

The poker tournament is the fourth event of the year for the Las Vegas Chapter, which raises funds to distribute in the Las Vegas and southern Nevada. The organization also held the 10th annual NASCAR Driver's Auction, the Mel Larson Night of Champions honoring Dr. Dale Carrison, and the sixth annual SCC Golf Tournament presented by Desert Dodge Every year, the Las Vegas Chapters distributes grants to children's charities throughout the area, including $314,000 in 2007 to 66 local causes.
