Friday, February 3, 2006
Tickets are now on sale for The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities annual NASCAR Driver Auction to be held Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Sam's Town Live!, inside Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the auction will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Many NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Series drivers are expected to participate.
"Last year's event nearly sold out and ticket demand already is high, so we decided to start selling the tickets early," said SCC Las Vegas Chairman Brad Mark. "The auction has become a 'hot ticket' during the Las Vegas NASCAR weekend. We expect the 2006 auction to sell out, so fans may not want to wait to purchase their tickets."
Less than 600 tickets are still available for the event. Nextel Cup drivers Kyle Petty, Kevin Harvick and Scott Wimmer and Busch Series drivers Reed Sorensen, Clint Bowyer, David Green, Paul Menard were among 18 NASCAR drivers that participated in the event.
Fans will have the opportunity to bid on a ride around the speedway in a convertible with their favorite NASCAR Nextel Cup Series star during driver introductions prior to the start of the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 on Sunday, March 12, 2006. For the second consecutive year, fans also will have the opportunity to ride with their favorite NASCAR Busch Series driver during pre-race parade ceremonies before the Sam's Town 300 on Saturday, March 11, 2006.
The event includes a silent auction, featuring a variety of racing and non-racing items -- including autographed memorabilia and tickets to various shows in and around Las Vegas.
The 2005 auction raised more than $180,000 for the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, which supports the increased quality of life for the children of southern Nevada.
Tickets for the event are $35 and may be purchased at www.tickets.com or at the Sam's Town Live! box office. For more information please call (702) 450-8300 or (702) 632-8242.
