Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities to grant $275,000 to 67 local children's causes

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities will hold its annual Grant Distribution and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. in Garage No. 4 in the infield of the superspeedway.
The Las Vegas Chapter will grant $275,000 to 67 local children's charities at the ceremony. The list of grant recipients includes: Amerindian, Inc., Arthritis Foundation, Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada, Greater Las Vegas After-School All-Stars, "I Have a Dream Foundation", Inc., Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, Second Chance Foundation, Las Vegas Sun Summer Camp, St. Jude's Ranch for Children and Opportunity Village.
Secretary of State Dean Heller and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman are scheduled to attend the event. The evening's festivities will include a performance by the Mariachi Band from J.D. Smith Middle School and a performance by Culture Shock Las Vegas inner city dance troupe. Santa Claus is also scheduled to make an appearance. LVMS General Manager Chris Powell will light the traditional SCC Christmas Tree.
Fundraising events for the 2005 season included the seventh annual NASCAR Driver Auction at Sam's Town Live!, the chapter's third annual golf tournament, the second annual Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament at the Cannery Hotel and Casino, and the Run-for-the-Money competition at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
