Greetings Speedway Children’s Charities Supporters! Can you believe summer is coming to a close? I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. With summer wrapping up, my time with Speedway Children’s Charities is coming to an end. With that being said, I wanted to give you all an update on my summer with SCC.

As many of you know, 2010 grant applications were due August 1st. I have been quite busy with the overwhelming response of grants received from various southern Nevada charities. I am anxious for the Board of Trustees to review them and make their decision. I am thrilled to see how many children’s lives will be touched. In addition to our grants, SCC hosted many dine to donate events throughout the summer. I would like to thank everyone who participated in these events in July and August. Your support means more than you can imagine. Be on the lookout for more dine to donate events for the fall. Tentatively scheduled, both Tommy Burger locations will be hosting our September dine to donate event.

SCC is not cooling off for the fall, in fact we are gearing up for some exciting events. Take a look at our events tab and you will find information for our Blood Drive, 2nd Annual Track Walk and our “Cards for Kids” Poker Tournament and 3rd annual Celebrity Bowling Tournament. The Chasers for Charity Fanfest is going to be even bigger and better this year. You won’t want to miss it! Stay connected and follow us - we’re on Facebook and Twitter!

Three months have blown by for me. My time as an intern with Speedway Children’s Charities has been an experience that I will never forget. I can now say I have a better understanding of the non-profit sector and a greater compassion for all that charities do. I would like to personally thank Rachel Commeford, Aubrey Hall and Jeff Motley for giving me the opportunity to learn and lend a hand to Speedway Children’s Charities.

All the Best,

Ashley Freeman
